Seat of Power

Nijo Castle in Kyoto was the seat of power in Japan for much of the 17th-19th centuries. A superb example of Japanese castle architecture, I was attracted here to the very typical harmony with nature, as shown by the mature conifer tree in such close proximity to the buidling.
